Rowena is a Toronto-based communications consultant and policy analyst, who also works in design and illustration.

She is fascinated by the spark of connection to a subject – trying to identify the key line or colour contrast that has an emotional resonance, and build from it. Explorations in clay sculpture have enhanced the three-dimensional quality of her figure drawing and painting. While she works in several different media, she often comes back to ink and chalk on paper. Most recently, she has been exploring encaustics – pigment in liquid wax, which can be painted, carved, scraped, splattered, etc. to give wonderful textures and translucence.
